Welcome to the May edition of the School Kitchen Newsletter where we will be keeping you up to date with a few of our adventures over the last month and give you a sneak peak of something coming soon.

We know everyone hates spam, so we promise to only send these updates once per month, and if you read to the end there will be a little something to make it worth your time!

Flexing our Green Fingers

May saw the launch of our Kitchen Garden at Carr on some previously unused land in the school. We are growing broccoli, onions, potatoes, chillies, basil, courgettes, spinach, lettuce, and other crops. The veggies will be used in our takeaway food and also in lessons for the kids.

The Three Rs

In this case we mean Reduce, Re-Use, and Recycle and we are continuing our company commitment to be as sustainable as possible by including bags for composting with every order! Customers without their own composting facilities can wash any packaging, put it in the bag provided, then hand it to the delivery driver when they get their next order from us. We will use the compost on the Kitchen Garden bringing everything back full circle!

We’re going on a Field Trip!

May also saw the launch of our Temporary restaurant ‘Field Trip to Kurdistan’. We will be bringing you on a delicious adventure with dishes from Kurdistan all devised by one of our chefs from his childhood memories. You can come to Kurdistan with us (in a culinary sense!) until the end of July.

Coming Soon

Pizza is a favourite for all appetites, big and small so we couldn’t resist making our own. Mercurio will be launching soon as a pizza only restaurant using quality fresh ingredients and bold flavour combinations as you would expect from School Kitchen. Customers will find this new restaurant on the app and website, and you’ll be able to mix and match as usual. More on this in the next newsletter!

Here at School Kitchen, we love to end our meals with something sweet so we will also be launching a dessert only restaurant called Tuck Shop soon! Customers ordering through our app or website will be able to include Tuck Shop in their mix and match orders so no need to worry about what to make for pudding. More on this in the next newsletter!
